President-Elect and Leadership Assembly Delegate
Julie Williams, APR, MA, is strategic communications consultant for social enterprises. Julie initially founded Versatile Creative Consulting in 2008 to service her past nonprofit employers while also attending graduate school. Inspired by companies like Patagonia, she committed to supporting social enterprise as the new norm for business. Through her nine years of in-house, agency and consulting experiences, Julie has built expertise in providing award-winning integrated marketing communications counsel to maturing, mission-driven organizations and designed a holistic approach to planning, training and facilitation that inspires creative and practical outcomes. Past clients include Nike, AARP, Grounded Solutions Network, and Portland State University.
Julie brings her “all in” attitude and integrates her passions for communication, design, leadership and community building into all aspects of life. A Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) member since 2010, Julie is President-Elect of the Oregon chapter for 2018 and most recently served as Director-at-large, Service, leading a task force to develop a strategy for meaningful member engagement. Previous roles and honors include: VP, Professional Development (2013-2014), New Professional Award of Excellence (2012), Newsletter Editor (2012), Director-at-large, New Professionals (2011).
Julie has been on the leadership team for a 100-member interfaith women’s group since 2014 and was the lead organizer and facilitator for Portland’s first Startup Weekend Education in 2016, along with previously serving on boards for Harper’s Playground, Kids on the Block Awareness Program and the Sacred Fire Community.
Julie has a Master’s in Strategic Communication from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor’s in English from Willamette University, along with active Accreditation in Public Relations through the Public Relations Society of America.
