The content strategist position will create compelling brand stories and experiences across a variety of platforms from digital, including web, social, email marketing, mobile, etc., to traditional platforms such as print collateral, magazines, advertisements and fliers. This position also must be comfortable with measuring the success of created or curated content. The content strategist will be charged with the creation of content plans and the implementation of these plans through collaboration and training. This role will be expected to work with other departments (admissions, clinics, alumni services, etc.) and with the student body to gather stories and to ensure implementation of cross-departmental business objectives. The content strategist will be essential in the creation and maintenance of, in conjunction with the director of marketing and marketing communications manager, content and strategy for the CRM communication plan for potential students and applicants.

This position reviews the website content for errors and updates. They would also work with the marketing communications manager to create new content for website sections based on the needs of the institution.
This position will be charged with writing blogs and managing student and faculty bloggers for inclusion in the website, social media, InTouch alumni news and other outlets.
Working with staff, students and faculty, the content strategist will create a strategic content calendar along with UWS-approved content for the university’s blog, social media pages and other social outlets (Yelp, Google reviews, etc.), monitor and engage in user-posted content and explore ways for UWS to benefit from those connections.
Working with staff and faculty, the content strategist will write content for a variety of email audiences. The strategist will work with the marketing communications manager to manage the e-lists and explore ways for UWS to capitalize on those connections. The strategist role will work closely with the director of marketing, the marketing communications manager and admissions to craft content within a lead nurturing drip campaign for inquiries and applicants through the UWS CRM and future marketing automation tools.
In conjunction with other staff members, this position will write content for assorted print materials ranging from brochures to fliers, including the Intouch alumni news and university collateral.
This position, in conjunction with the communications department, faculty and staff, will explore opportunistic storylines as well as write releases on campus-related news. The strategist will also have experience working with local and national media to pitch news stories.
Work with staff and faculty to write content for the website, brochures, blogs, social media, e-newsletters and more.
Coordinate with all departments for social media posts, blogs and news.
The strategist role will work closely with the director of marketing, the marketing communications manager and admissions to craft a lead nurturing drip campaign for inquiries and applicants through the UWS CRM and future marketing automation tools.
Produce video, photographic and written content for the website and social media outlets.
Update website content as needed and seek updates from appropriate departments.
Monitor the content from the campus community and outside users for appropriateness.
Respond to and engage all inquiries for UWS on social sites (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
Seek out and join relevant conversations on social sites.
Delegate to experts at the university on topics fit for their input.
In conjunction with the Digital Marketing Manager, measure the impact of content created by using available analytics and research.
Create content and measure success for a variety of UWS emails and newsletters.
Curate relevant content for appropriate platforms.
Keep up-to-date with new social media strategies and best practices so the university can best capitalize on those outlets.
Train others on content strategy and social media best practices.
Be comfortable with analytics and data-driven marketing strategy and be a big-picture thinker.
Write press releases and strategize the best way to get UWS media placement. Must understand how to pitch media in modern venues including social media.
Manage and maintain a content calendar.
Assist in other communications department activities.
Photograph events for social media posts.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform job.)
This is a content creation position.
Strong writing skills are required.
Website content management system experience.
Ability to be creative with stylebook and branding guidelines constraints.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated effective use of project management skills.
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively.
Ability to work occasional nights and weekends for live events.
Ability to problem solve and to develop solutions to problems.
REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Training & Experience)
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, related degree or equivalent professional experience with writing experience for the web and print.
Extensive knowledge of the social media venues and best practices for posting and gaining followers.
Some experience or knowledge of the following: design software including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, photography and photo editing for website optimization.
Experience with WordPress, Mailchimp, Pardot, Salesforce CRM.
Must be comfortable using Google Analytics.
Strong portfolio of blog-style writing and packaged online content.
Demonstrated success growing audience through social media.
