The City of Gresham is looking for a collaborative, creative and motivated Graphic Designer to join the Communications team. The Graphic Designer will partner with the four other members of the team to tell Gresham’s story in a compelling and accessible way.

What you’ll get to do:
Design and create: Work with City employees across all departments to design and produce a variety of print and digital materials both routine and complex.
Tackle a variety of work: Projects include printed publications, visual displays, social media visuals, customized promotional products, and digital designs and graphics for the web and video.
Build City’s visual story: Along with the Communications Digital Media Specialist, staff the team’s Digital Media Studio and provide photography/video support as needed. Collaborate on visual storytelling, video content, photography and project designs.
Develop relationships: Consult with internal clients on communication goals; serve as advisor to City employees and team on graphic design principles; work with outside vendors to produce quality products on time and on budget.

Collaborative: A creative strategist who can work in tandem with the Digital Media Specialist to 1) promote a visual identity for the City, and 2) develop an effective and efficient workflow within the City’s recently established Digital Media Studio. Serve as a resource and collaborative partner with the full Communications team.

Clean, modern, warm visual aesthetic: A visual storyteller able to showcase the values and work of the City through the use of imagery, color and typography, with the goal of engaging the Gresham community in our work. Be able to articulate ideas clearly and to a diverse set of clients.
Technical skills you’ll need:
Training and hands-on experience with graphic design and layout practices, methods and techniques.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop.
Preferred familiarity with Office 365 suite, including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint. Comfortable with technology and new tools.
Intermediate photography skills; basic video editing ability.
Proficient written and oral communication skills; ability to write and deliver project updates, internal memos, and design-related materials as needed.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
A degree; e.g., an associate in graphic design, and two to three years’ progressively responsible graphic design workplace experience or four years’ prior on-the-job graphic design work sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities required.
