William W. Marsh Lifetime Achievement Award

The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Portland will honor top PR pros with coveted Awards of Distinction at its upcoming Spotlight Awards on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Portland State University.

Barbara Kerr, APR, Fellow PRSA is this year’s recipient of the William W. Marsh Lifetime Achievement Award for her monumental contributions to public relations. This award is presented to a chapter member who has significantly advanced the field of public relations and made immense contributions to PRSA and PRSA Portland. The 2016 Spotlight Awards also hallmarks the 30th anniversary since the first Marsh Award was presented.

An award-winning communicator with national and global experience, Kerr is the chief communications officer for the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon Ministries Corporation. Her communications career included roles as news director, anchor and reporter at network television affiliates in Ohio and Maryland. She served as a communications advisor for government, business, public and nonprofit organizations based nationally and abroad. Most recently, Kerr was executive director of communications and marketing for Clark College, Washington state’s largest single campus community college.

Kerr is a member of PRSA’s prestigious College of Fellows and currently chairs its Mentoring Committee. She was the 2014 PRSA Portland president, having previously served as vice president of both member services and member communications.
