Apr 16

Public Relations Intern

C+C’s Portland office is looking for a highly motivated, outgoing intern to assist with work on various accounts. C+C is a “good guy” public relations and social marketing firm with offices in Seattle, Portland, Boston and Washington DC.

Our motto is DO GOOD WORK! We work with clients that positively impact their communities by inspiring people to choose energy-efficient LEDs over traditional energy-sucking bulbs; opt for sustainable seafood; take public transit; save water; recycle; compost; protect shorelines; and carpool, to name a few causes.

We work at the local, regional and national level, helping to develop and promote some of the most innovative and recognizable sustainability efforts in the nation. Along with executing top-notch social marketing and media relations campaigns, we also have expertise in video, creative services, social media, multicultural strategy and branding.

The intern will assist with the planning, development, and execution of communications plans; coordinating account logistics; various administrative tasks; and other public relations and marketing duties as assigned. Duties will vary greatly but will include writing, research, creating press materials, developing media lists, tracking media coverage and occasional event staffing. We are seeking organized, creative self-starters who are passionate about social causes.

Ideal candidates will have:
• A four-year degree
• Demonstrated writing skills
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point)
• Ability to multi-task, work independently and be self-directed
• An understanding of basic marketing and media relations concepts
• Ability to work in a rapidly moving environment
• Flexibility
• Detail oriented
• Problem solver
• A sense of humor
• A valid driver’s license
• Past internship or work experience preferred

A writing test will be required for this position.

We are looking to hire an intern for a full-time position, 40 hours per week for three months, with a possible three month extension, starting June 2016. The position is paid $15 per hour.

In your cover letter, please include a brief (300 words or less) answer to these two questions:
1) What is a social cause/issue that you are passionate about, and why?
2) What does diversity mean to you?

Please send resume and cover letter to and reference “PDX Intern” in the subject line.

C+C is an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status or disability status.
