PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Metro chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) elected Mary Ann Albright to join its board of directors and lead the planning for the upcoming PRSA Spotlight Awards that will be held on Thursday, Oct. 17, at the West End Ballroom.
Albright is an award-winning public relations professional and journalist. She currently serves as director of communications at her alma mater, St. Mary’s Academy, all-female, college-preparatory high school in downtown Portland. Previously, she spent seven years as a staff writer for The Columbian and The Corvallis Gazette-Times newspapers. She continues to freelance for The Columbian and The Oregonian.
“I am excited for the opportunity to offer my peers a unique awards experience,” says Albright. “The Spotlight Awards distinguish those who have raised the standards of the PR profession, and I look forward to honoring this year’s recipients.”
Albright is well aware of this distinction, having received a Spotlight award for event marketing and a merit award in the annual report category. She also has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists for lifestyles, consumer and minorities reporting.
She holds a Master of Science in Strategic Communication from the University of Oregon, and she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Willamette University with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Albright joined PRSA in 2011, and this is her first board appointment with the organization.
