2012 PRSA SPOTLIGHT AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED ON OCT. 25, REGISTER ONLINE TODAY
This year’s Spotlight Awards highlight the convergence of traditional tactics with digital channels through our theme of “Destination Integration.” The 2012 Award recipients, including the chapter’s three prestigious annual awards for the William Marsh Lifetime Achievement Award, the Ron Schmidt Community Involvement Award and the New Professional Award of Excellence, will be announced at the evening ceremony on Oct. 25.
For the first time, we offered a paperless entry option and we will feature a digital presentation of winning entries at the awards ceremony, in an effort to better reflect the level of technical sophistication required of today’s public relations professionals. Emceed by Portland Business Journal Editor Rob Smith, the evening will be an upbeat, energetic mix of networking while shining a spotlight on this year’s most inspiring marketing and PR work.
Has Panda relegated you to page 30 for terms where you used to be on page 1? Maybe your site seems OK today, but really you’re one bad link or one speck of content away from suffering the wrath of Google’s baddest black-and-white beasts. Come learn how to avoid or recover from a Penguin penalty, and how to tune your website to make Panda happy and favor you in the search results. Two expert speakers — one speaking on Panda, and the other on Penguin — will help you keep up-to-date on the latest Google algorithm changes.

11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost: $25 for IABC members; $35 for non-members; and $20 for students. Includes full plated lunch.
Over the past 12 years the brand of the Portland Trail Blazers has taken on different faces, literally and figuratively. Through different head coaches, general managers and team presidents one name has remained the same: Sarah Mensah. She has helped guide the organization through nearly every challenge imaginable and now serves as the team’s chief operating officer.
The organization was recently recognized for the top public relations staff in the NBA, has won several ticket sales and service awards and has sold out 192 consecutive games in their LEED Gold Certified Rose Garden Arena — the first existing building in the world to achieve that honor. Sarah has gained local and national attention for her successful leadership, including being named one of the 50 Most Influential Portlanders by Portland Monthly and a Game Changer: Women in Sports Business by the Sports Business Journal.

I have developed a deep Rolodex of colleagues who are always quick to offer support and guidance and I’m very appreciative of the opportunity to learn from, as well as share knowledge with our great community.” ~ Jamie Godfrey
